Indian American techie Sabih Khan takes over as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Apple Inc. Khan succeeds Jeff Williams later this month.
Khan, 59, who has been associated with Apple for over 30 years, is presently the vice-president of Apple Inc.
“Sabih leads with heart and values, and I know he will make an exceptional chief operating officer. He helped ensure that Apple can be nimble in response to global challenges,” said Apple CEO Tim Cook, calling Khan a “brilliant strategist and one of the central architects of Apple’s supply chain”.
Born in 1966 in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, Khan moved to Singapore when he was 10. He got a bachelor’s degree in economics and mechanical engineering at Tufts University, before acquiring a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Khan’s stint with Apple began in 1995. In these 30 years of his involvement with Apple, his role has shaped the company’s global supply chain.
He became the senior vice-president of operations in 2019. Khan has been appreciated for reducing Apple’s carbon footprint by more than 60%, besides introducing cutting-edge technologies to improve Apple’s operations and expansion in the US. – editor@nrifocus.com
