In a shocking incident around Venjaramoodu in Thiruvananthapuram, five persons of a family were killed by a 23-year-old male relative. The accused, Afan, the son of an NRI based in Saudi Arabia, surrendered to the police after carrying out the crime in three different locations in one day.

Financial issues are said to be the reason. The victims are Afan’s younger brother, paternal grandmother, father’s elder brother, his wife, and girlfriend.

Afan was admitted to Thiruvananthapuram medical college since he claimed to have consumed rat poison.

The police, however, say there was evidence of drug use by the accused.

Afan had first threatened the victims to either hand over money or jewellery to him. When each had refused, he had hammered them to death. Investigations reveal that the murders were premeditated. – editor@nrifocus.com
