GEMS Education, founded in the UAE in 1959, is one of the oldest and largest private education providers in the world. The first ‘Adani GEMS School of Excellence’ is expected to come up in Lucknow in the academic year 2025-26, to offer high quality education at an affordable cost. The Indian multinational conglomerate, Adani Group, headquartered in Ahmedabad, is making an initial donation of Rs 2,000 crore towards this initiative.
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Adani Group hopes to roll out about 20 such schools in the next three years. The Adani Group invests about 2% of its total profit in various CSR initiatives through its Foundation, which plans to start schools in Tier II to IV cities as well. The underprivileged children of these schools can avail of free education. The schools will follow CBSE curriculum, where 30% seats are reserved for such deserving children.
Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani said, “This initiative reflects our commitment to making world-class education affordable and widely accessible. By adopting global best practices and innovative digital learning through our partnership with GEMS Education, we aim to equip the next generation of change-makers to become socially responsible leaders in India.” – editor@nrifocus.com
