A day after the Houthis struck the King Khalid International Airport in Saudi capital Riyadh, the group has struck the international airport again today, killing one person and injuring 11 people.

The attack caused fire in a passenger hall. The victim was a Pakistani resident.

The Houthis in Yemen have said they are behind the attacks, including the one that killed 13 people and injuring 308 others yesterday. A series of attacks by the Houthis were reported last week.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on X that he was ‘deeply shocked’ and strongly condemns “Saturday’s lethal attack by the Houthis”.
He said attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure violated international law and ‘must cease immediately’.

The Houthis have warned airlines and passengers against using Saudi Arabian airports and airspace. They said they were targeting Saudi Arabia over its support for government forces in Yemen’s civil war.
Saudi Arabia has been waging an air campaign against the Houthis, Iran-backed group, to support the ground war by Yemeni government forces.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs described the Houthi attack on Riyadh airport as ‘dastardly’ and said attacks on civilians ‘are completely unacceptable and must cease immediately’.

The attacks on the airport have been carried out with a mix of ballistic and cruise missiles, besides drones.

US President Donald Trump described the attack on Saturday as ‘terrible’ and said he ‘will be speaking’ with Saudi Arabia’s de facto leader, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS), soon. He said he was evaluating whether the US should join the war against the Houthis.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, meanwhile, has called for an end to ‘these reprehensible attacks’.
“We stand with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people and extend our condolences to the victims and their families,” he wrote on X.

After the first attack, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh urged Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain alert, stay indoors, and follow instructions issued by local authorities through official channels.

The embassy advised Indians against circulating or reposting videos or news related to the ongoing events.

Indian nationals can contact the 24-hour Pravasi Bharatiya Sahayata Kendra (PBSK) helpline on 8002471234 for assistance.

The embassy in Riyadh, the Consulate in Jeddah and their visa services continue to operate normally.

Further updates will be issued through the embassy’s official channels. – editor@nrifocus.com
