While the Houthis keep threatening to target Saudi airports and oil sites, and have done so too in the past few days, the Saudi-led coalition has announced that it downed a Houthi ballistic missile launched towards Riyadh, the Saudi capital.
Following attacks by the Houthis on King Khalid international airport, and Saudi Aramco facilities in Dhahran and Riyadh, US President Donald Trump had said that the Houthis were stepping up attacks on Saudi infrastructure to drive up energy prices ahead of the US midterm elections.
Iran has actively been deploying new tactics to target ships sailing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that a container ship ‘carrying contraband’, attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz, caught fire after an explosion.
In a strategic move to exert control over the Strait of Hormuz, since the US and Israel launched strikes against Iran on February 28, Tehran has been blocking traffic through the waterway, which used to carry about a fifth of global oil and liquefied natural gas trade before the Middle East war. – editor@nrifocus.com
