In an apparent bid to negotiate a revival of a ceasefire in the US-Iran conflict, Qatari mediators have arrived in Tehran.

The Qatari delegation delivered a letter to Iran’s security chief Mohsen Rezaei from US Vice President JD Vance, proposing a new diplomatic process to Iran in an attempt to stave off a fresh round of US strikes.

The letter has apparently been well received. The Qatari delegation led by the senior adviser to the Gulf nation’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani – in coordination with US officials – arrived in Tehran for further talks and consultations.

This development took place amid warnings to Gulf allies by US President Donald Trump, ahead of a high-intensity military campaign planned after the US midterm elections scheduled next week.

The letter to Iran’s security chief reportedly focussed on the potential framework for negotiations, written in a more respectful tone than earlier correspondence from the US administration.

The new diplomatic path has been welcomed by Iranian authorities even as the US awaits a peaceful response from Iran. – Image by wikipeda – editor@nrifocus.com
