Veena Kaushal, a resident of Dubai, was on a visit to India recently. During her stay in Ludhiana, where her home is located, she had left a purse containing her passport, some foreign and Indian currency, and gold jewellery, beside her bed.

Kaushal, 69, noticed her purse missing and checked with her two tenants with whom she shares the house. They both denied having seen the purse. Sangeetha, the domestic worker, was the other person in the house. Even she said that she had no idea how the purse had gone missing.

Kaushal filed a complaint with the police who interrogated Sangeetha. She hadn’t fled the scene nor was there any trace of the lost items in her house.

The police, however, said that they were investigating all possible angles. Both the tenants were also questioned.
