A recent survey by SBNRI, a fintech platform, reveals that India’s commercial real estate market is the most sought-after investment avenue for NRIs.

More than 50% of NRIs view commercial real estate as a profitable preference when compared to residential properties, which were earlier popular among NRIs.

The post-pandemic scene was initially not so good for real estate and investors, but everything changed in a short period with the property business bouncing back globally. A projected CAGR of 9.2% between 2023 and 2028 turned things around, along with fractional ownership models also changing the game.

While a commercial unit costs anywhere upwards of Rs.5 crore, those keen on investing now choose to participate in high-grade commercial properties even with just Rs.25 lakh in hand.

Better returns on investing, and convenience combined with hassle-free management, are stated as the main reasons for the positive surge of commercial real estate. Besides these are other benefits such as capital appreciation, passive rental income, and portfolio diversification, which make commercial real estate a dominant asset class for overseas Indians. – editor@nrifocus.com
