The ‘Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme’ (FTI-TTP) aimed to ease immigration procedures for international passengers arriving in India was inaugurated at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi.
The facility, implemented through an online portal and launched at 21 major airports in the country, is free for all.
The applicant has to register on the portal with details of the self and mandatory documents. The FTI-TTP will run on e-gates or automated border gates. During the immigration clearance process, e-gates is supposed to minimise human intervention. Biometrics of the ‘trusted traveller’ will be captured by e-gates. The passport will also be simultaneously scanned and authenticated. When the identity of the traveller is thus established, e-gates will automatically open; the immigration clearance will be fulfilled.
The FTI-TTP is being implemented in two phases. Indian citizens and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cardholders are covered in the first phase, while foreign travellers will be covered in the second phase. The objective of the initiative is to make international travel easy via world-class immigration facilities. – editor@nrifocus.com
