Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to make a stopover in the UAE in the middle of his four-nation tour of Europe from May 15-20.

During the trip, Modi will be visiting Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy. The purpose of the trip is the third India-Nordic Summit in Oslo on May 15, where leaders from India, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and Finland would come together to focus on the Middle East and Ukraine wars, climate change and global energy crisis.

The stopover in the UAE is expected to see discussions on trade and security cooperation, besides the welfare of the diaspora in the Emirates.

Modi’s visit to the Emirates comes months after President of the UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s visit to India in January this year.

The External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, was in the UAE recently, while Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri travelled to Qatar. National Security Adviser Ajit Doval also visited Saudi Arabia to bolster India’s energy security. – editor@nrifocus.com
