A young NRI student was found dead on Ottawa beach under mysterious circumstances. She had gone missing for three days.

Vanshika Saini, 21, daughter of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa’s aide Davinder Saini, moved to Canada about two years ago for higher education. She enrolled for a diploma course and finished with her exams a week ago. Even while preparing for an IELTS exam, scheduled this month, she took up a part-time job. On April 22, she left home but never returned.

Her friends began their search for her but in vain. Local authorities and the Indian community around the area were alerted. Her body was found on Ottawa beach three days later.

Her father Davinder Saini says that when he last spoke to his daughter, she was studying hard to get through the IELTS exam. Friends and family say that her phone remained switched off from April 23. Her family in India suspect foul play and are demanding Canadian authorities to investigate the tragedy. – editor@nrifocus.com
