More than 25,000 expatriate families have joined Norka Care, the Kerala government’s comprehensive health and accident insurance scheme, which is meant exclusively for expatriate Keralites.

Implemented through Norka Roots, the scheme’s overwhelming response from Malayalis in India and abroad has led the government to extend the enrolment deadline from October 22 to October 30.

Norka Roots Resident Vice Chairman P. Sriramakrishnan said, “Considering requests from expatriates and their organisations, the enrolment date has been extended till October 30.”

Special registration camps and awareness campaigns are being organised by expatriate organisations around the world. In India, these campaigns are conducted by Norka Roots NR Development Offices in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai.

Registrations can be done on Norka Roots official website — www.norkaroots.kerala.gov.in — or via the Norka Care mobile application, available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Under Norka Care, each family consisting of the expatriate, spouse, and two children below 25 years, is entitled to a Rs. 5 lakh health insurance cover and Rs.10 lakh group personal accident insurance at a premium of Rs.13,411.

Special provisions have also been made for companies employing expatriate Keralites abroad.

The coverage has been scheduled to begin on Kerala Piravi Day, November 1. – editor@nrifocus.com
