Sandeep Chandran, a farmworker’s son from Thrissur district of Kerala, who was working at a Russian military camp, has been killed in a attack in Ukraine. A native of Nayarangadi at Trikkur panchayat in Thrissur, 36-year-old Chandran had gone to Russia to work at a restaurant. An electrician by profession, he found a job in Moscow and had sent his first month’s salary home.

His parents rarely heard from him after that as it is believed he was taken from Moscow to work at a military canteen on Russia’s border that was prone to attack by Ukraine forces. Chandran was part of a 12-member Russian military patrol team when the attack happened. The Indian Embassy in Moscow has confirmed his death. Chandran is survived by his parents. – editor@nrifocus.com
