Air Kerala, India’s first ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC), which is backed by Dubai-based investor Zettfly Aviation Ltd., is all set for take-off from Kerala in the second quarter of 2025.
It plans to start service from the United Arab Emirates a year after the domestic launch.
The airline website has confirmed that Air Kerala has secured the No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Civil Aviation to commence operations. To begin with, it would launch operations with three aircraft – ATR 72-60s. Each has a seating capacity of 78 passengers.
Harish Kutty has taken over as the CEO of the company, which plans to expand globally by 2028. Kutty feels that AirKerala.com is the realization of a long-cherished dream shared by millions of Malayalis worldwide. “I accept with deep dedication the responsibility to bring this dream to life,” he has said.
Air Kerala would connect tier 2 and tier 3 cities with tier 1 cities, making travel experience easy for those flying the airline across the country. – editor@nrifocus.com
