Another twist in the Nimisha Priya case has Kunjahammed Koorachund, treasurer of the Nimisha Priya Action Council, making allegations against a young MLA from South Kerala of hindering the efforts being made at every front to release the Indian nurse convicted of murder.
Priya is on a death row in Yemen and efforts are on to secure her release and bring her back to India.
Kunjahammed has said that one MLA, who works in favour of those against peace talks, is delaying the proceedings for Priya’s release by his unnecessary intervention. “If the MLA stops backing them, we could achieve Nimisha’s release swiftly,” he said.
Two others have also been blamed for delaying the closure of the case. K.A. Paul, an evangelist from Andhra Pradesh, who was himself arrested for a murder conspiracy case of his own brother in 2012 and known widely for his controversial claims, has been showing a lot of interest in Nimisha Priya’s case but in vain.
Another person, media activist Samuel Jerome, who has been accused of misappropriating funds collected in Nimisha Priya’s name, is also seen as obstructing any positive developments. Both Paul and Jerome are reportedly intervening in blood money negotiations only to worsen the case, according to Kunjahammed.
Kunjahammed is now questioning why the MLA has also joined the fray to hinder Nimisha Priya’s release. – editor@nrifocus.com
