The United States Chamber of Commerce, which is the world’s largest business organization, has appointed Rahul Sharma as the new India-based Managing Director of the US-India Business Council (USIBC). Sharma took charge on August 20.
The former journalist and newspaper editor will lead a team of policy experts dedicated to the over-200 member companies of the Council, furthering the partnership and prosperity of both the US and India. Sharma’s four-decade experience in the industry would certainly make India’s business trends accessible to USIBC.
Sharma’s stint as head of APCO India for six years, prior to joining USIBC, establishes his expertise in guiding corporate clients and managing policy advocacy goals, besides advising state governments in investment communications.
His appointment comes as USIBC, which connects the two largest democracies in the world and inspires sustainable solutions to business challenges, prepares to celebrate its golden jubilee next year.
