Network International, a leading enabler of digital commerce in the Middle East and Africa region, and NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL), an umbrella organisation for operating retail payments and settlement systems in India, have entered into a strategic partnership to introduce QR-based UPI (Unified Payments Interface) payments in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The collaboration targets Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Indian tourists visiting the UAE to enhance their payment experience. They can use UPI for transactions at restaurants, retail stores, leisure stations and tourist attractions. The initiative will be implemented in a phased manner in order to make UPI payment options available across the UAE for the convenience of NRIs and Indian tourists. – editor@nrifocus.com
