An NRI, who is utterly disappointed after living in India for two years, has expressed his frustration on social media. A Reddist post by that man from Britain has gone viral.
He has said: “I can’t wait to get back to England. Anyone thinking of leaving for a ‘Navi India’, don’t bother – you’ll be wasting your money.”
The 41-year-old NRI, who claims to own a fortune of about ₹14 crore abroad, had returned to Goa after 12 years of living in Britain. He wanted to experiment with his ‘passion projects’, besides enjoying the ‘spirit of India’. At the end of two years, he wants to go back to England as Goa has ‘no real culture beyond drinking’ and ‘no well looked after heritage or arts’.
Poor infrastructure, constant everyday struggle and lack of civic sense are the reasons he gives for not wanting to stay any longer here. The post reads: “The long and short of it… nothing works. Roads are in disrepair, food quality is substandard, sanitation has worsened, and even luxuries are overpriced… I tried solar heating, backup electricity, UPS for WiFi — yet life sucks.”
There were loads of responses in agreement with his statement.
One person had said that ‘even walking makes me sick. In the US, I drive to relax. Here, I can’t even drive without getting irritated — wrong-side driving, no lane discipline, honking, pollution.”
Another user, a resident of Bengaluru, had commented: “From getting scammed at the airport to broken roads, sleepless nights from honking and dogs, and the constant stench of sewage — everything feels like a struggle. Even Uber rides are a gamble with dirty cars, broken seatbelts, and drivers canceling after 10 minutes.” – Image by freepik – editor@nrifocus.com
