Harwinder Singh alias Sonu of Dhani Sucha Singh village in Punjab’s Fazilka district had recently returned to India from abroad. He was settling down with his family in his village for good when an accidental firing took his life.

Singh was with his wife and a two-year-old daughter, along with many relatives at home on the fateful day. He was sitting on a sofa and stood up for something when the loaded pistol he had tucked into his waist went off, injuring him in the stomach. He took a few steps though badly wounded by the bullet. The incident was caught on camera that was installed in his home.

Singh’s relatives rushed him to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries even before treatment could be administered.

The police checked the CCTV footage to confirm the cause of Singh’s death. Singh’s father had recently won the panchayat samiti election. Hence political party leaders and hundreds of villagers gathered at his place to offer condolences to the bereaved family. – editor@nrifocus.com
