The UAE on Monday said it would not allow its airspace, territory, or waters to be used in any hostile military actions against Iran. It also said it would providing any logistical support for any attack as tensions rise between Washington and Tehran after a wave of protests swept Iran recently.
In a statement, the UAE’s foreign ministry said “dialogue, de-escalation, adherence to international law, and respect for state sovereignty constitute the most effective foundations for addressing current crises, underscoring the UAE’s approach of resolving disputes through diplomatic means”.
Meanwhile, the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, has arrived in the Middle East, according to reports. Reuters reported that uncertainty over the possibility of military action in Iran has lingered after US President Donald Trump said last week that an “armada” was heading towards the country but that he hoped he would not have to use it.
Airlines have also cancelled flights to the Middle East. However, some services have resumed, but India’s IndiGo issued an advisory on cancellations or certain “proactive” changes in its international flights over the next few days, as deemed necessary, owing to recent developments in Iran. – editor@nrifocus.com
