Elizabeth Cherian, Founder and Principal of the English Private School in Umm Al Quwain, who passed away during her visit to Kerala, was laid to rest in Kochi.
Elizabeth, 73, had travelled to her hometown to attend to her ailing husband, M.K. Cherian, when she had to undergo an emergency surgery from which she never recovered.
Hailing from Ernakulam district, Elizabeth developed the English Private School, which she founded in a small way in May 1983. The school grew over the years and is now affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), while following the Kerala State curriculum also.
The Indian Association Umm Al Quwain expressed ‘heartfelt condolences’. “May her soul rest in peace, and may her family find the strength to endure this loss,” said the president, managing committee, and members of the association.
Elizabeth is survived by her son, Jihad Cherian, who is based in Dubai.
Elizabeth and her husband were very involved in community activities. Their contribution in the field of education is commendable. – editor@nrifocus.com
