Telugu NRIs in the US are facing a challenging period as mass layoffs are rapidly rising, prompting the community to rethink long-term plans in the country of possibilities.
Employers of companies across various sectors such as corporate, retail, and tech, are resorting to large-scale dismissals, which are done without prior notice via mass emails or sudden virtual meetings.
This shocking trend has left thousands of NRIs questioning about their future and career. Telugu professionals on H-1B and L-1 visas have been forced to look for new jobs to retain their legal status in the US, and to accomplish this within 60 days is another big challenge hitting them hard.
Telugu NRIs who are out of jobs approach job agents and support groups that secure their updated resume and offer legal guidance to move forward. Those left in the lurch also desperately look for remote or hybrid roles to temporarily sustain themselves.
Major US tech companies have ruthlessly terminated a large number of Telugu NRIs by informing them about their exit during short Zoom calls.
Community organisations in the U.S. have placed on record that Telugu families were considering returning to India because of the prevailing job insecurity and visa renewal uncertainties.
The layoff wave is expected to continue through next year. – editor@nrifocus.com
