Lulu Group chairman M.A. Yusuff Ali has opened up on why the Lulu Mall project in Thrissur has not taken off.
Addressing a gathering at the inaugural event of the new Thrissur Management Association (TMA) headquarters in Chiyyaram, Ali alleged that a court case filed by a person associated with a political party was the cause for the delay. He said the mall in Thrissur should have been opened more than two years ago. But, it didn’t because of political interference.
Business ventures in the country often struggle due to such legal battles. “Once the issues are resolved, Lulu Mall will become a reality in Thrissur,” said Ali.
“The project was expected to generate 3,000 jobs. But soon after we acquired land and began initial work, a baseless case was filed. It has been pending in the High Court for over two-and-a-half years,” he added.
He commended the TMA for playing a vital role in preserving cultural values among the younger generation. Ali highlighted how many of Kerala’s well-known business heads were from Thrissur, a place that has a rich legacy of entrepreneurship. – editor@nrifocus.com
