An Indian expat woman from Kerala was nabbed by the Sharjah police and sent back to India. The private company where she was employed for over two years arranged for her flight back to India and paid for her ticket.
The reason she was flown back after an arrest was for overstaying the UAE visa. She could not get the visa renewed for want of funds.
Earlier, the travel agent and her employer had demanded Dh9,000 for visa renewal, which she could not afford. While she continued to work for the same employer, the latter filed a complaint against her with immigration authorities, stating she had absconded.
When the woman stepped out to a grocery store, a special surveillance team of the Sharjah Police nabbed her. Inquiries revealed the expiry of her visa. She was immediately referred for legal proceedings.
However, a legal firm called Yab Legal Services supported her case and worked in tandem with her family in Kerala. The woman’s family sought help from their local legislator Manalur MLA Murali Perunnelly, who got in touch with the legal firm in Sharjah. In two days, they secured an exit pass for the woman after extensive coordination with government departments. – Image by freepik – editor@nrifocus.com
