Kerala govt with Norka Roots launches job scheme for returning NRIs

Norka Roots, the nodal agency for all matters concerning Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs), is in the news again for assisting the Kerala government launch a scheme called ‘NAME’ (NORKA Assisted and Mobilized Employment).

This initiative is designed to provide employment opportunities for returning NRKs in local enterprises. Under the innovative scheme, employers can hire candidates listed in the NORKA Roots database. The interesting aspect is that those who recruit through the scheme can avail of a wage subsidy for up to 100 working days a year.

The subsidy, which covers 50% of the daily wage or up to a maximum of 400 rupees per day, is available to organizations that can make use of it for a maximum of 50 employees.

Employers can register through the portal at https://name.norkaroots.kerala.gov.in, which is operational now. Approved industrial and commercial establishments in Kerala are permitted to register online.

Those seeking jobs can look for application links for the vacancies posted by employers, which will be published on the website. Cooperative societies, private and public limited companies, LLPs with Udyam registration, ESI and EPF registered establishments can put up their job postings. Approved startups are also eligible to participate.
