Iran’s intelligence officials have reached out to the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for talks to end the war, according to a New York Times report.
The Times quoted unnamed sources and added that an unnamed country’s spy agency was involved but Iranian intelligence sources denied the report.
A source from the Iranian intelligence ministry rejected the report as “absolute lies and psychological warfare in the midst of war”, Iran’s semi-official news agency Tasnim reported.
The White House also did not comment, according to the report.
Officials in Washington has shown little interest in an “off-ramp”, at least in the short term.
Meanwhile, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva on Tuesday ruled any negotiations with the United States.
The US, meanwhile said there would be no let up in the attacks on on Iran.
“Tehran wants to talk but it is too late,” said US President Donald Trump on Tuesday. – editor@nrifocus.com
