In view of the rise in the instances of physical attacks on Indians in Ireland, the Embassy of India in Ireland has issued a warning, asking Indian citizens to avoid deserted areas, especially at odd hours, and take reasonable precautions for their personal security.
Recently, an Indian national was violently assaulted in Tallaght, a southwestern suburb of Dublin, on July 26. He was severely beaten by a group of men, who stripped him, before passersby rushed to rescue him.
The Indian Embassy in Ireland said that it was in touch with the victim and his family, providing necessary support. Viewing the incident as a possible hate crime, the Embassy has shared its contact details such as email and mobile number, for Indian nationals to reach them if anything untoward happens. Indian citizens can report such cases by calling 08994 23734 or email cons.dublin@mea.gov.in.
It is also alleged that similar instances have been reported in Tallaght to the shock of the local police and the public. – editor@nrifocus.com
