“Emirates NBD will not be charging Dh26 for remittances to key corridors such as India, Pakistan, Egypt, and the Philippines. These corridors will remain free of charge for our customers. The Dh26 fee applies only to non-core corridors, in line with Central Bank regulations,” said a recent statement issued by the bank, addressing the concern of customers over the matter of zero-fee remittances.
Transfers within the six core countries, comprising India, Pakistan, Egypt, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and the UK will continue to have no charge, but subject to the minimum transfer amount threshold of Dh100.
The fee of Dh26.25 applies only to international transfers sent to countries outside the bank’s designated zero-fee corridors. This is applicable only to transfers initiated via online, mobile banking, and the ENBD X digital channels.
Emirates NBD is expanding its DirectRemit service to more than 30 additional countries. This digital money transfer service, which is presently available to customers of the six core countries, will be enabled soon for many more, making money transactions easy for Emirates NBD customers.
Through DirectRemit service, customers will not be charged correspondent bank fees, but will have to pay a transfer fee of up to Dh26.25 (inclusive of VAT). International transfers will also incur a fee of up to Dh26.25. The charges will be effective from September 1, 2025. – editor@nrifocus.com
