The Ambassador of India to the UAE, Dr. Deepak Mittal, and the Consul-General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Satish Sivan, met with the MD and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, in Dubai recently.
The meeting was pegged on DEWA’s commitment to building strong relationships with diplomatic missions and enhancing collaboration with Indian companies across the energy and water sectors.
While the Indian diplomats expressed their appreciation for DEWA’s initiatives, Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s key projects and initiatives, aligning with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. Both the initiatives aim to source 100% of the emirate’s energy from clean sources by 2050.
Al Tayer also drew attention to the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which is the world’s largest single-site solar park. He said that current and future phases at the solar park offer strong opportunities under the independent power producer model.
He drew attention to DEWA’s pilot Green Hydrogen project and how plans are on to develop it into a future hub, where avenues for technological collaboration and investment would be created. He highlighted the landmark Hatta Pumped-Storage Hydroelectric Power Plant as well, while further outlining DEWA’s smart grid and digital transformation initiatives that are led by Digital DEWA.
