Indian politician and former diplomat Shashi Tharoor was at the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi recently, describing the experience as “extraordinary”. He was accompanied by the temple’s head, Swami Brahma Vihari Das.
Tharoor said the “remarkable structure” transcended its spiritual significance, and commended the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for facilitating the establishment of the BAPS Hindu Mandir to fulfil the aspirations of the Hindus in the UAE.
Tharoor shared his thoughts in a video on his X handle, where he described the design, architecture, and other aspects of the BAPS Hindu Mandir, which is located at Abu Mureikhah, 60 miles from Abu Dhabi.
Describing the temple as a “deeply moving” space, Tharoor acknowledged the UAE government’s role, saying the temple displayed the UAE’s courage in fostering inclusivity. While feeling “blessed, moved, and uplifted” by the visit, Tharoor sent out the word, encouraging people everywhere to experience the “must-see” marvel that recorded 2.2 million visitors last year. – editor@nrifocus.com
