The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently made APAAR IDs (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) mandatory in India for students registering for Class 10 and 12 board exams.

This move raised a concern among students in CBSE affiliated schools in the UAE, following which the CBSE has clarified that “schools situated abroad are exempted from APAAR because of various administrative reasons and laws in these countries”.

APAAR is a unique identification number, which allows authorities in India to track a student from their primary to higher education. To create an APAAR ID, the student must submit information such as name, date of birth, gender, photograph, and Aadhaar number.

Now that school principals in the UAE have confirmed that APAAR is not meant for overseas schools, the announcement has put to rest confusion among students and their parents regarding the requirement of APAAR IDs and Aadhaar for student enrolment. – editor@nrifocus.com
