At a time of heightened tension, with the UAE facing intense attacks due to the escalation of the ongoing Iran-related conflict, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi spoke with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan over the phone, extending advance Eid greetings.

Modi affirmed India’s solidarity with the UAE regarding the measures it is taking to uphold its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its people. He also reiterated India’s condemnation of the blatant Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and other countries in the region.

Both leaders discussed developments in the region amid escalating military actions and the serious implications for regional and international security and stability.

During the call, Modi and Al Nahyan underscored the need for an immediate halt to the escalation. Both of them agreed upon prioritising dialogue and diplomacy to address regional issues in a way that prevents further crises in order to preserve regional and international peace and security.

Both leaders emphasised the need to ensure safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, which is a critical global shipping route. They together agreed to work closely toward restoring peace and stability in the region.

In a post on X, Modi strongly condemned the recent attacks targeting the UAE. The attacks caused civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure. – editor@nrifocus.com
