A woman and her paramour have been convicted of a gruesome murder that has shocked the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.
While on a morning walk, a farmer in Bhatauli village found an abandoned trolley bag in his field. On opening it, he noticed a mutilated body inside. He quickly called the police, who identified the victim, Naushad Ahmed (38), from an airline tag that was attached to the suitcase. They tracked Ahmed’s residence and reached there in time to meet his wife Razia, who looked suspicious to them. She said that her husband Ahmed hadn’t returned home since the previous night. But the police noticed blood stains and another suitcase in her house.
On interrogation, Razia admitted to murdering her husband with the help of her nephew, Ruman, with whom she had an affair. Ruman is missing.
Only 10 days ago, Ahmed came down from Dubai to his native village. He has a six-year-old daughter.
Razia and Ruman planned to eliminate him as they saw him as a hindrance to their extramarital relationship. So, with help from their friend Himanshu, the three carried out the murder plan. They attacked Ahmed and after cutting him stuffed his body into a suitcase. They dumped it in the field some 55 km from their village.
Additional Superintendent of Police Arvind Verma said, “The murder took place around 2 a.m. Within six hours, our team traced the barcode on the airline tag and identified the victim. Razia has been arrested, and the murder weapons – an axe, a chopper, and a pestle – have been recovered.”
Sources said that Ahmed was aware of Razia’s affair with Ruman but let her get away with a warning. Ahmed’s sister has demanded strict punishment for Razia. Forensic teams are also involved in the investigation now. – editor@nrifocus.com
